The Gröditz facility and the group of Forging Technology at a glance
Schmiedewerke Gröditz GmbH produces open-die forgings and rolled rings, which can be mechanically rough or finish-machined. Steel is supplied by Elektrostahlwerke Gröditz GmbH.
Modern technologies based on experience as well as research and development work at the open-die forging facilities ensure the manufacture of products weighing up to 45 tonnes which comply with customer requirements.
An extremely diversified range of products – from steel bars through finished machined crankshafts to power generation components – is available to customers operating in a wide range of sectors. Apart from tool and die construction, large engine and power plant construction, our customers also include companies representing the aviation industry, the automobile industry and general areas of engineering.
Accordingly, many plants and machinery around the world are practically inconceivable without products manufactured in Gröditz including heavy crankshafts from Wildau (Gröditzer Kurbelwelle Wildau GmbH) or even retaining rings as well as nitrogen steels (Energietechnik Essen GmbH).
Machined tool steel (Gröditzer Werkzeugstahl Burg GmbH) rounds off the range supplied by the Group.
Non ferrous metals can be hot-formed on request.
Simulation, forging, hardening and mechanical engineering of forging parts with a part weight ranging from 400 g up to 500 kg, not only produced from conventional steel materials but also from high-alloyed, stainless steel as well as from hot-work steel, nickel-based alloy and non-ferrous steels, produced in small-batch series up to large volumes are the excellences of Schmiedag GmbH & Co. KG. Moreover, friction weldings up to a diameter of 130 mm are possible.
The same material alloys, but in an even more considerable weight range (300 kg up to 3,5 t) are forged, heat treated, crack detected and blasted at Wildauer Schmiedewerke GmbH & Co. KG.
