The Major Significance of Environmental Protection
Such a wide variety of products requires integrated quality assurance with due regard for the environment as well as the avoidance or reduction of environmental pollution during all production sequences. An important objective of Schmiedewerke Gröditz GmbH and Elektrostahlwerke Gröditz GmbH is therefore sustainable management of resources which is practised in our companies on a day-to-day basis as part of our striving for effective environmental protection.
In order to achieve this objective the following environmental and energy targets have been set within the scope of our short-term and medium term planning:
- The reduction of the electric power consumption and improvement of energy efficiency throughout the entire company,
- An improvement in the regular recording of energy data and communication to the production areas as well as
- The continual search for alternative disposal methods in an effort to consistently improve utilisation of the waste which is generated.
Thus environmental pollution should be avoided or kept at as low a level as possible by means of consistent improvements in compliance with the financial, operational and business situation. The companies handle raw materials and energy sparingly in order to keep waste at as low a level as possible.
In addition to fulfilling environmental and energy objectives, the companies of the Gröditz facility commit themselves to comply with all statutory and legal requirements. Furthermore SWG and ESG commit themselves to reviewing the environmental compatibility of the production as well as the products.
An environmental officer and an energy manager are employed by the company to support all departments in their implementation of environmental and energy objectives as well as to communicate the corporate environmental policy in an effective way. As well as increasing employees’ awareness about how they handle resources, we encourage everyone to draw attention to any circumstances which could be detrimental either to environmental protection or efficient use of energy in order for these to be eliminated.
